Terms of Service

By accessing or using watercompared.com (the “Site”) you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. The Site is operated by SAP Thumbprint Holdings LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”).

1. What we do

WaterCompared is an independent educational and comparison site for home water treatment: softeners, whole-house filters, reverse osmosis and well water systems. We publish product information, water quality data by ZIP code, and educational content. We also operate a service that connects homeowners with licensed installers.

We are not an installer, dealer or manufacturer. We do not sell, install or service water treatment equipment, and we do not quote work. We do not guarantee the quality, pricing, availability, licensing or timeliness of any installer’s services. Any contract for purchase or installation is between you and the installer.

2. Quote requests

When you submit a request through the Site, you authorise us to share your contact information and project details with licensed water treatment and plumbing installers in your area, and home-services referral partners who maintain networks of such installers, who may contact you by phone (including via automated technology, autodialed or prerecorded calls), text message (including automated text messages), and email regarding your request. Your consent is not a condition of any purchase.

By submitting a request, you represent that:

• The information you provide is accurate and relates to a property you own or are authorised to make decisions about

We record your consent along with a timestamp, your IP address, and the version of the consent language displayed, as part of our TCPA compliance records. Message and data rates may apply. 3. Content and accuracy

Every figure we publish carries its source and the date it was checked, and where we could not verify one we say so rather than estimating it. That method is described at /method. That is a standard for how we publish, not a warranty. Specifically:

• Water quality data describes water leaving a treatment plant, not water arriving at your tap. Plumbing between the two can add lead and copper and no dataset on this Site can see it.
• Hardness figures are inferred, not measured at your address. They come from monitoring stations inside a water system’s service area, which is not the same as a measurement of your supply. If a decision matters, test your own water.
• Federal monitoring has gaps, and an absence is not a finding. A contaminant not appearing in a record may mean it was never sampled. We label which is which, and neither is a clean bill of health.
• Pricing is approximate. Installed cost ranges vary significantly by location, home configuration, local permit requirements and installer pricing.
• Certification data is scoped. Where we report NSF certification, the absence of a listing means we did not find one, never that a product is uncertified. A brand may hold certification from WQA, IAPMO or another body.
• Specifications change. Manufacturers update specs, warranties and availability without notice. Verify with the manufacturer or your installer before purchasing.

We are not responsible for errors or omissions in product information, or for decisions made based on information provided on this Site. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did: /corrections.

4. How we are paid

We are paid two ways, and both are disclosed. Some outbound links to products are tagged, and we may earn a commission if you buy through one, and the pages carrying them say so. A quote request may earn us a referral fee from whoever receives it.

Neither buys a ranking or a recommendation. Comparison tables rank on measured price and certification; brands that pay us nothing appear on the same terms, and the ones that could pay us are marked as such. Full detail at /disclosure.

5. User-submitted content

If you provide notes through our form, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content for the stated purpose of facilitating your request. We will not use it for marketing or advertising. This Site does not accept file or photo uploads of any kind.

6. Intellectual property

All original content on this Site (text, design, graphics, and the water report tools) is the property of SAP Thumbprint Holdings LLC and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute or republish our content without written permission.

Underlying public records (EPA, USGS, state agencies) are not ours and are not claimed. Product names, brand names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners; their use here is for identification and comparison only and does not imply endorsement or affiliation.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SAP Thumbprint Holdings LLC and its owners, employees and agents shall not be liable for:

• Any damages arising from the installation, operation or failure of any equipment purchased through an installer found via this Site
• Any acts, omissions or representations made by third-party installers or referral services
• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site
• Any decisions made based on the content, water data or pricing estimates on this Site

Our total liability for any claim related to the Site shall not exceed one hundred US dollars.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SAP Thumbprint Holdings LLC from any claims, damages or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising from your use of the Site, your submission of information, or your violation of these Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Texas.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
